A new house is being built across the street from us. Garrett has spent large amounts of time watching and talking about the back hoe. He watches out the window and, even better, loves to sit in our front yard and watch the back hoe working. When the footprint of the house was being dug and all the workers had gone home for the evening, the entire sidewalk surrounding the lot was lined with boys' bikes and scooters. Boys played in there for hours. I am just learning how boys are, but I couldn't imagine what all those boys had to do in that dirt for hours. My neighbor is expecting her fifth boy and she filled me in. Apparently they were playing capture the flag in there and had fashioned some kind of climbing rope to get down into and out of the hole. I need to brace myself for the dirt-filled years ahead of me. Yikes!! For now I am happy with the observing only.
Garrett must have LOVED all the construction activity. That always appeals to boys.

I just got a laugh out of that one!! My boys would be all over that! Give them dirt or construction vehicles and they are happy. :) They both have gone along with Mike for the day and loved every minute of it...construction sites rock. Yup. Boys and girls are different.
ReplyDeleteIf we lived closer, my crew would have been over there, too! Thank goodness they can't see what they're missing! :) Best to keep them out of those holes! :)
